Wigan Warriors,Hull and Castleford Tigers confirm player moves

With the news of their respective loan transfers, Wigan Warriors head coach Matt Peet maintains that forwards Sam Eseh and Tiaki Chan “deserve to be playing in Super League.”

Eseh, 20, makes his second appearance with the Castleford Tigers after his first move was halted in April as a precaution against injury.

Fortunately, the budding prop’s hamstring injury was not severe, as he recently played for Wigan’s reserves in a 44-0 victory over Hull KR at Robin Park.

Meanwhile, Hull FC has signed fellow forward Tiaki Chan; both contracts are initially for two weeks.

Since leaving the Catalans Dragons ahead of 2024, Chan, 23, has only made two appearances. Both came off the interchange bench against London and Leigh.

Wigan manager Peet commented on the changes, saying: “It’s game time, they both deserve to play Super League.”

Here, they practise playing as well as working extremely hard.

It provides them with the outlet they require to not only get in shape but also to demonstrate their abilities and prepare themselves as much as possible in case we ever need to use them.

“I’m excited to watch both of them compete in Super League.”

After joining from Wakefield Trinity before the 2024 season, Eseh has yet to play for the first team because he injured his hamstring in a reserves preseason game against the Huddersfield Giants.

And after loan stints with Featherstone Rovers and Barrow Raiders, the prop forward was named the Championship young player of the season in 2022. Peet anticipates a bright future for the player.

Peet went on, “We see him every day in training and he’s applying himself really well, so we know what his strengths are.”

I have no doubt that he will succeed greatly in this position in the long run.

“It’s about selecting the right opportunity for him; he’s a young player.”

Harvey Makin, who has been a member of the London Broncos since the end of March, is also keeping up his impressive play while on loan from the team.

Peet continued, “It’s a terrific experience for him.”

“As a young front-row player, he must undoubtedly gain experience playing against larger opponents and at that level (Super League).

“This is the ideal chance for him.”
