Raami Mohamed was found guilty of murdering Badri Issa

A knifeman who attempted to break up a brawl by acting as a peacemaker instead stabbed the university graduate, and the knifeman was convicted guilty of murder. Raami Mohamed fatally stabbed 22-year-old Badri Issa in the street.

With the intention of becoming a mechanical engineer, Mr. Issa was travelling to the gym with his friend Omar Jeylaani when Mohamed motioned for him to stop at Moss Side. Mohamed and Jeylaani had previously gotten into a car disagreement, according to Manchester Crown Court.

The two got into a physical altercation after stopping their cars, and Mr. Issa intervened by telling them to “chill.” However, when hostilities increased, Mohamed pulled out a knife and stabbed Mr. Issa in the chest.

After a trial, Mohamed, 21, was found guilty of murder. Kevell Blake, a 20-year-old man, was convicted guilty of manslaughter but not guilty of murder.

He “assisted and encouraged” Mohamed in the murder, according to the prosecution. Next month, both guys will receive sentences. “Badri was well loved at home and in the community,” Mr. Issa’s family stated in a statement released after his passing. He was kind, courteous, and prioritised other people.

“Badri was eager to begin a career in mechanical engineering after receiving his degree from university. He was usually grinning, nice, and kind. Everyone who knew him will deeply miss him.

The court was informed that Mr. Jeylaani and Mohamed had a “background of hostility” as a result of a Volkswagen Polo disagreement.

An arrangement had been made for Mohamed to rent the car from a firm said to be linked to Mr Jeylaani. But Mohamed didn’t pay the agreed sum and then said he was ‘going to keep the car’, the trial heard.

Mr Jeylaani discovered the car parked on a street in Cheetham Hill about two weeks before the murder, and with the help of three associates they were able to ‘repossess’ the vehicle after some ‘brief violence’. Then on the evening of October 25 last year Mohamed and Mr Jeylaani were both out driving and met, in a chance encounter.

Mohamed gestured towards Mr Jeylaani to pull over, as he and Mr Issa headed to an exercise class. Both cars turned onto Moss Lane East and stopped in a lay-by.

Mohamed got out of his car, a white Seat Ibiza, and approached Mr Jeylaani shouting ‘what have you done?’ As a confrontation developed between them Mr Issa got between them and told them to ‘chill’.

Then, Mr. Jeylaani and Blake challenged each other, and Mr. Issa and Mohamed got into a fight. Blake struck Mr. Jeylaani with a fist.

Mr Jeylaani claimed that although he didn’t witness his friend being stabbed, he heard him scream, saw him fall, and noticed that his shirt was bloody. Both Mr. Blake of Bromshill Drive in Cheetham Hill and Mohamed of Fairy Lane in Cheetham Hill denied any involvement in the crime. Mohamed said that Mr. Issa had produced the knife and that, acting in self-defense, he had disarmed the man and stabbed him.
