Corey Hall of Hull KR is a player that both Wakefield Trinity and Castleford Tigers are interested in signing on a long-term contract, according to Love Rugby League.

Hall joined Craig Lingard’s team as part of the trade that sent Louis Senior to the Tigers and Jack Broadbent to Rovers. He is now on a season-long loan at Castleford.

Love Rugby League has discovered, nevertheless, that the Tigers are already considering the idea of trying to turn Hall’s loan arrangement into a permanent one. However, Wakefield, its local rivals, are putting up a fight, as they have also discovered a surprising move for a player who only left the team a year ago.

As part of another swap deal, Hall left Wakefield to join Hull KR; Will Dagger moved to Trinity in exchange for Hall’s departure to the Rovers.

However, as part of their extensive hiring plans for their projected 2025 Super League comeback, Wakefield has discussed the possibility of moving Hall and has looked at him as a potential target.

But it’s unclear if Hall departs from Hull KR. Although Hall is still under contract with the Robins till the end of the next year, Rovers coach Willie Peters implied that Hall’s desire to play centre was the reason for his loan move to Castleford. Hall also seemed to leave the door open for a return in 2025.

“It was purely to give Corey game time and an opportunity to get him around the 17 but he really wanted to play centre,” Peters said. “Naturally, when players aren’t playing, what happens off the back of that is that they’re not going to be as happy and it can have a snowball effect so sometimes you’ve got to make decisions around the best interests for both parties.

“I’ve said from day one that he’s a talent and can go a long way in this game if he wants to – but we need to help him as much as help our squad for this year.”

But both the Tigers and Trinity want to sign him on a permanent deal, and have made contact with Rovers in relation to the possibility of a deal happening.

Trinity have already finalised deals for England pair Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken from Catalans for 2025, with the likes of Hull FC’s Cam Scott and Rovers forward Matty Storton also believed to be heading for the club next year.
