The mesmerizing clause in Torquay’s deal for new manager

Wotton to work at Plainmoor with Neil Warnock

On a three-year deal, Paul Wotton has been officially announced as Torquay United’s new manager. The Bryn Consortium has also revealed that Neil Warnock will become a Football Advisor on the incoming Plainmoor Board.

A former player for the Plymouth Argyles, Wotton has managed Truro City for the past five seasons, leading the Cornish team to promotion to the National League South.

In 1993, Warnock famously prevented the Gulls from being relegated, and he holds the amazing record of managing 1,626 football games.

Incoming Co-Chairman Mark Bowes-Cavanagh said in a statement from the club, “After a thorough search, the Consortium Board agreed that Paul’s credentials and vision were most closely aligned with our own and he will arrive at Plainmoor as part of a restructuring of the football set up at the Club.”

“We are thrilled to have Neil join the board. As Torquay United looks to rebuild, he brings an unparalleled depth of football knowledge and experience to the team. Michael Westcott, Co-Chairman of the Bryn Consortiu, continued, “We are excited about Neil and Paul’s approach to building a squad and the uncompromising brand of football they want our team to play. There is a strong chemistry and mutual respect between Neil and Paul.”
