The Austrian will move on after six years in Gorgie and fans will get the chance to bid farewell on Saturday

Longtime Hearts midfielder Peter Haring will depart the team at the end of the current campaign, the club has revealed.

Haring, goalie Michael McGovern, and midfielder Andy Halliday will all leave the Jambos when their contracts expire, the team confirmed Monday. The 30-year-old Haring has been at Tynecastle for six years, but he has suffered from injuries recently. This season, he missed the bulk of it due to a chronic knee issue.

The 39-year-old veteran goalkeeper McGovern came to Tynecastle on a one-year contract to support Zander Clark, but he never played a game for the team before taking a short loan to Livingston in January. However, Halliday, who lost favour with Steven Naismith, will turn his Motherwell loan into a permanent agreement.

“Heart of Midlothian can confirm that Peter Haring, Michael McGovern, and Andy Halliday will leave the club upon the expiration of their contracts this summer,” a statement from the team stated. With the best wishes and gratitude from everyone at Hearts, the leaving players—all of whom have been outstanding contributors to the team—will go on to the next phase of their careers.

Naturally, there is a great deal of respect for Peter Haring after his six years at Tynecastle, where he led the men in maroon to the Scottish Cup final in 2019, our promotion campaign in 2021, and two third-place results for the team in 2022–2023.

“After Saturday’s thrilling Premiership match against Rangers, supporters will have the opportunity to honour the departing players and celebrate the end of an incredible season that has seen the club secure third place in the table, European football for the third season in a row for the first time ever, and guaranteed European football for the group stage.”
