The popular X2 series will debut in Australia with the introduction of the first electric variations, which will cost roughly the same as the fuel counterparts, according to German luxury automaker BMW.

The X2 M35i xDrive performance variant and the ordinary iX2 are the two fully battery-electric variants that the business introduced on Wednesday.

The prices of the two petrol variants, the X2 xDrive20i and the X2 M35i xDrive, which are priced at $75,000 and $92,000 respectively, and before on roads, are in between them and below the luxury tax level at $82,900 and $85,700, respectively, before on roads.

Later this year, the more reasonably priced iX2 xDrive20 will go on sale. It will have a single front-mounted engine, a 65kWh battery, a probable range of 455 km (WLTP), and roughly 150kW of power and 250Nm of torque.

The larger iX2 xDrive30 has a 65kWh battery with the same capacity, but it has 230kW of power and 494Nm of torque, reducing its range to 395 km. However, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds as opposed to 8.6 seconds.

According to BMW, the iX2 has a rated power usage of 18.5 kWh per 100 km, and it only takes 29 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% using a DC charge at up to 130kW. 22kW is the maximum AC charging peak.

Included with the acquisition of the iX2 is a 12-month complementary Chargefox subscription.

Depending on how the seats are arranged, the iX2 can hold between 525 and 1,400 litres of storage. Larger wheels, acoustic glazing, and the absence of roof rails are among the minor variations between the iX2 and iX1, which share many of the same standard features.

The iX2’s interior features a widescreen curved display made up of a 10.3-inch digital dashboard and a 10.7-inch infotainment screen. The infotainment system runs on BMW’s iDrive 9, which is based on the open-source Android platform, although it is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
