Chris Millington has refuted rumours that The Shaymen are interested in Sunderland rookie Caden Kelly.
Sunderland Echo reports, based on an article by journalist Alan Nixon, suggested that Town was interested in signing the 20-year-old attacker. He made his Sunderland debut in the 2022–2023 campaign, but since then, he has primarily played for the club’s under-21 squad.

Regarding the rumours, Millington told the Courier, “Nothing in that at all, no.”

“Last year, we did not take out any loans. Although some may view it negatively, players like Kane Thomson-Sommers, Flo Hoti, Adan George, Andrew Oluwabori, Adam Senior, and Jack Evans have all received minutes as a result.

“All of these young athletes hoping to make a name for themselves at this level are in a great place going into their second season with Halifax Town.

“We have the option to look into the loan market if it strengthens us or if it provides a safety net in the event of an injury or extremely poor performance.

“But our priority is to find players who are invested in doing their very best longer term for Halifax Town.”

Later this week, on our website, and in this week’s Courier, you can read more from the Halifax manager.
