In Yeovil, Glovers Walk has twenty-six retail stores, a café, a kiosk, and restrooms; however, just two of the stores on Lower Middle Street are open for business.
The site was put up for sale last week by real estate advisor Alder King, with a £1.75 million asking price.
Somerset Council holds a lease on the adjoining bus station, therefore its future is currently assured.
The land was bought by Martin Property Group in 2018 and plans to renovate it were disclosed, however nothing materialised.

She stated: “I totally understand the concerns that people have.”The current issue is that a pandemic has altered how many people conduct business and how high streets function. “It’s important to keep in mind that we are unable to develop any property that has tenants inside of it, so it was very deliberate that Glovers Walk tenants were relocated to other parts of the town prior to the pandemic,” the spokesperson said.

“We’re trying to evolve with that changing landscape to make sure that what we deliver in the future is right in accordance with what people want,” she stated.
