Football Insider has been informed by sources that Bristol Rovers and Chippenham Town’s teenage player Dan Ellison have reached an agreement.
The 19-year-old centre back has recently gone through trials with Reading, Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday, and Rovers.
After Ellison accepted their offer, the League One team is now the clear winner in the chase for his signature.
Despite only turning 19 in March, he was a regular player for Chippenham in the National League South during the 2023–24 season.
Ellison contributed four goals as a center-back and made 27 starts in 30 league games as the Bluebirds ended in the middle of the table.
Though he still has a year left on his non-league deal, the teenager is expected to move up to the EFL.
He played in a friendly match against Nepal after being called up to the England “C” side last month.
Despite playing a lower level than transfer rivals Derby and Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol Rovers has emerged victorious in the hunt for Ellison.
The Gas will compete in the third division for the third consecutive season in 2023–24 after finishing 15th in League One.
