The Golden State Warriors find themselves in a difficult situation at the midpoint of the 2023-24 NBA season. Jonathan Kuminga is having a strong stretch, but with an aging Steph Curry, the Warriors are anticipated to make a move before the NBA trade deadline.

It is just a matter of time until the Warriors make a move.

Golden State has a 21-15 record and ranks 12th in the Western Conference standings. Thus, the squad requires a spark to re-enter the postseason picture.

Steph Curry has undoubtedly been the most consistent player for the Warriors, and he is the team’s primary motivator heading into the NBA trade deadline.

Curry is 35 years old and most certainly in the second half of his heyday. According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Warriors feel compelled to make a trade before Thursday.

Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green appear to be Golden State’s core players. However, Andrew Wiggins’ name has been frequently mentioned in trade rumors. The 28-year-old is averaging 12.8 points per game, a career low, and could benefit from a change of environment.

Furthermore, the Warriors are more likely to make a deal because Chris Paul’s contract is about to expire. He could be useful in a trade that requires a salary filler or a higher asset return. Paul intended to help Golden State get over the hump in 2023-24, but injuries held him out.

Despite the fact that the Dubs are going through a slump, Jonathan Kuminga has been a bright spot. The third-year forward has scored an average of 23.3 points in his last ten games. Golden State regards him as a crucial piece of their future, so he will most likely not be traded at the deadline.

It will be intriguing to watch what moves the Warriors make amidst the constant trade rumors.
