THE family of a teenager has issued a desperate appeal after he went missing after a night out in Tenerife.

The last time Jay Slater, 19, of Oswaldtwistle, was contacted was on Monday, June 17, at 8:50 a.m.

His last known position was close to Rural de Teno Park, based on a location pin that he texted to his buddy Lucy.

He claimed to be alone and lost in the midst of the mountains.

After attending a music festival on the island, Jay made the decision to spend the night with some new acquaintances, not understanding how far away they lived.

Then, after becoming lost in the mountains, he tried to trek home.

His friend Lucy stated to the Lancashire Telegraph, our sister publication, that his disappearance is unusual for him.

“I have never been so worried in my life,” the woman remarked.

“On Monday at 8:50 a.m., Jay called and said he was stuck in a mountain. He texted me a precise position, but the communication stopped when his phone died.

“It is uncharacteristic of him to stray on his own.

“The police informed me that mountain rescue would be dispatched, but it hasn’t happened yet.

“We’re making every effort to spread the word about our plea to get him home.

“Given that he mentioned hurting his leg on his cactus, he might have a cut or scratch on his leg.”

The adolescent was last seen with a black purse, trainers and a grey t-shirt on. He has blue eyes and brown hair, and he is slender.

Social media posts regarding Jay’s abduction have been made by family and friends, and his mother Debbie has travelled to Tenerife to look for him.

Since then, organisations have been formed in an effort to locate the missing adolescent.

They have encouraged everyone who has family or connections in Tenerife to let them know about their appeal.
