The departure of former Bolton Wanderers assistant coach has left Blackpool looking for a new coach.

Among the panelists at the Bloomfield Road event were owner Simon Sadler, CEO Julian Winter, sporting director David Downes, and head coach Neil Critchley. The latter discussed factors to take into account when hiring a new employee.

Since Iain Brunskill left the Seasiders last month, the team has been searching for a replacement for the assistant position. The former player for Liverpool, Bolton Wanderers, and Blackburn Rovers is now playing for former Celtic manager Neil Lennon at Rapid Bucharest in Romania.

“We are currently seeking to hire someone,” Critchley stated in the fans forum.

“Gaps must always be considered. You identify the gap by examining the level of experience possessed by your current staff

.

“My assistant, Mike Garrity, and I both have coaching backgrounds; we have experience developing and enhancing players within a team.

“After that, we have to decide whether to hire someone with a player’s career who wants to start coaching, or we go with someone like Colin Calderwood or Stuart McCall.

“Stanley is comparable to Colin in that he also had a managerial career in addition to his playing career.

Mike and I lack playing experience, which is something we both lack. At times, it’s necessary to acknowledge your identity and areas of weakness. I don’t have everything, but I’m strong in some areas, so let’s see how we can meet that.
“We’re talking about it right now, but we don’t know who that person is yet.”
