Callum Styles created history on Sunday night when he qualified for the European Championships as the first football player ever registered with Barnsley FC.

Due to an injury, the 24-year-old was not used as a substitute in Hungary’s first two group stage matches against Switzerland and Germany.

But he started on Sunday night against Scotland, as the Magyars scored a 100th minute winner to knock Steve Clarke’s side out of the tournament.

He was booked within 18 minutes after lunging in dangerously on Aston Villa star John McGinn, before eventually being substituted in the 61st minute.

It means Styles and his teammates have three points in the group, but they’ll have to wait to find out if they qualify for the knockout stages as one of the top four third-placed teams.
