Just as police were preparing to enter a Luton home, a gun went off inside, killing a man.
Police responded to the St Kilda Road address at approximately 8:55 p.m. on Friday as part of their investigation into a gunshot that had occurred in Sundon Park Road.

However, a gun was shot inside the house before they entered, killing a guy in his 30s who passed away at the scene even though police administered first aid almost after.

Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with either incident.

Superintendent Hob Hoque, from Bedfordshire Police, said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the family of the man who died at this tragic time.

“We understand the impact an incident like this can have on not just loved ones but the community more widely. The family are being supported by specialist officers and we ask the public to respect their right to privacy at this difficult time and avoid speculation.”

“A higher police presence will be in place over the coming days to carry out further investigative work and reassure the public.”

In accordance with usual procedure, the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Anyone with information regarding either occurrence can file an online report citing Operation Cetus or call 101 to report it to the police.
