Tom Eaves, a striker for Rotherham United, is undergoing a medical examination before joining Northampton Town, as per Football Insider on X.
According to reports, Rotherham United is ready to let the attacker leave this summer. They are hoping for an instant promotion back from League One after being demoted from the Championship alongside Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town the previous season.

Eaves, 32, joined the South Yorkshire team in 2022 and has one year remaining on his contract. Since then, he has made 46 appearances across all competitions, tallying four goals.

According to Football Insider’s most recent report on his circumstances at the New York Stadium, he is on his way to Northampton Town, another third-tier team. Under Jon Brady, the Cobblers, who were promoted from League Two the previous year, have adjusted to moving up a league over the course of the past 12 months.

Rotherham United striker latest

Rotherham United have made a whole host of new signings over recent times so cutting ties with Eaves will free up space and funds in their squad.

He may struggle to get into their starting XI in the next campaign amid competition from the likes of Jordan Hugill, Sam Nombe, Josh Kayode and Jonson Clarke-Harris.

When he was younger, Eaves played for Bolton Wanderers, Oldham Athletic, and Crewe Alexandra.

Then, in 2017, he was signed by Yeovil Town before moving to Gillingham.

He was a productive player for the Gills, scoring 40 goals in 97 games to earn a move to Hull City.

During his three years with the Tigers, Eaves scored 18 goals in 108 games, which helped the team advance in his second season.

What next for Northampton Town target?

He was signed by Rotherham United after leaving East Yorkshire, however he is currently being strongly linked to a move out.

Eaves would benefit from a move to Northampton Town and the opportunity to play regularly.

He would be a coup for the Cobblers and a proven goal scorer in League One.
