Hearts are pushing to sign midfielder Malachi Boateng, and they are in early negotiations with Crystal Palace. The 22-year-old impressed with a string of standout displays at both Queen’s Park and Dundee during his time on loan there last season.

Boateng can play as an orthodox No. 8 or in a holding role, and Hearts are looking to bolster their midfield. While he is at ease with the ball at his feet, he is forceful when making a tackle. Given the absence of midfielders Beni Baningime and Calem Nieuwenhof from preseason training, Boateng would provide the Edinburgh club with a valuable central option.

Although the player is now getting closer to joining Gorgie, other teams in the English Football League and in European leagues are also interested in signing him. His Palace contract expires in the summer of 2025, and negotiations with Hearts are almost complete.

After goalkeeper Ryan Fulton, defenders Daniel Oyegoke, James Penrice, and Gerald Taylor, midfielders Blair Spittal and Yan Dhanda, and striker Musa Drammeh, Boateng would be the seventh new player to sign this summer at Tynecastle Park.

Earlier today, Hearts signed a one-year contract to bring veteran custodian Jamie MacDonald back to Tynecastle. He’ll be a part of the club’s B team. Toby Sibbick, the defender, was sold to Wigan Athletic in the meantime.
