Celtic has secured their third signing of the summer, finalising a deal with Portuguese midfielder Paulo Bernardo, Stephen McGowan of the Daily Mail reports

Following a fruitful season-long loan from Benfica, Bernardo will now become a permanent member of Celtic, contingent upon a £3.5 million transfer fee being agreed upon by both sides.

Bernardo made a big impact while on loan at Celtic, making 33 games and scoring four goals, helping the team win both the Scottish Cup and the Premiership. He changed the game when he entered and made the shot that Butland bounced into Adam Idah’s path, which proved to be the decisive factor in Celtic’s victory in the Scottish Cup Final.

Following discussions, Celtic was able to reduce the initial £6 million price tag to £3.5 million and agreed to a 30% sell-on clause with Benfica.

Bernardo is set to sign a five-year contract following his medical, marking him as the first outfield signing for manager Brendan Rodgers this season.

This deal has dragged on this summer, but the club have got their man it seems.
