Key road in Westbury-on-Trym closed due to incident in Bristol

A diversion has been put into place which takes drivers through Henleaze

Three days will see the closure of a significant portion of Bristol Road as “utility repair and maintenance works” are carried out. Bristol Water has scheduled the closure of Waters Lane in Westbury-on-Trym starting today, Monday, July 29.

The road, which is essential for motorists travelling to places like Southmead and Horfield, links Eastfield Road with the town of Westbury-on-Trym. The planned roadworks is expected to conclude on Wednesday, July 31, according to One.Network.

Waters Lane will be closed from its junction with the B4055 Westbury Hill until 9 Waters Lane. During the roadworks, an alternative footpath will be made available to pedestrians.

Residents were notified by Bristol City Council of the 72-meter closure. It verifies that a lead pipe that affects the water supply will be replaced and that the project will take a maximum of five days, but it is anticipated to take only three.

Drivers will now pass through Henleaze on their way to Durdham Downs due to a diversion. Drivers heading east on Waters Lane will first turn onto Eastfield Road, then they will turn right onto B4056 Henleaze Road, and finally they will follow the B-road onto Durdham Downs.

Following the A4018, cars will turn right into the B4055 Westbury Road, which leads to Westbury Hill, after turning onto the A4018 Westbury Road. The detour goes on downhill in the direction of Waters Lane. Conversely, the diversion is the same.
