NEWPORT County AFC great Robbie Willmott test himself in the Cymru Premier this season after signing for Barry Town United.
The 34-year-old midfielder, who was most recently on loan from National League Woking to Weston-super-Mare in National League South, has joined with Jenner Park Stadium.
Willmott, who can play in the midfield or out wide, will give former County defender Steve Jenkins’ team a boost as Barry opens the season against Bala the following Saturday.
The adaptable midfielder played a significant part in Michael Flynn’s historic cup runs during his two stints with the Exiles, totalling 292 games over nine campaigns.
Willmott began his career at Cambridge United and then played for Bishop’s Stortford, Chelmsford, Exeter, Luton, Ebbsfleet, Eastleigh, and Walsall.
He joins a Barry squad that placed ninth in the 12-team Welsh football premier league last year and recently won 2-1 over the Exiles in a friendly on their synthetic surface.
