Following a collision between a car and a motorcycle on the A19  night, two individuals were hospitalised.

In Jarrow, an incident near the Lindisfarne roundabout prompted the call for emergency services. Though it was their medical car rather than the helicopter, the Great North Air Ambulance was also present.

A doctor accompanied one patient to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, while the other was transported to South Tyneside Hospital. The duration of the road closure and the extent of the patients’ injuries are still unknown.

“We were called at 10.33 last night  to a two vehicle road traffic collision between a car and a motorbike on the A19 close to Lindisfarne roundabout, Jarrow,” according to a statement from the North East Ambulance Service.

“We sent out two ambulances with two crews each, a clinical team leader, two vehicles from our Hazardous Area Response Team, and Great North Air Ambulance’s medical car to assist us. A doctor was accompanying one patient to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, and another patient was transported to South Tyneside Hospital.”

“Yesterday our critical care team was activated at 10.39pm to reports of a road traffic collision on the A19 near Boldon Colliery,” the Great North Air Ambulance said in a statement.

At 10.45 p.m., a physician and paramedic arrived on the site and collaborated with the North East Ambulance Service to evaluate and manage a patient. Our team joined the North East Ambulance Service road crew as they transported the patient to the hospital.”
