Five people have been injured in a serious crash in Totton after a car came off the road this morning (Saturday)

Three of the five people are believed to have suffered serious injuries after the car left the carriageway of the Marchwood Bypass around 4am.

The road was shut for around nine hours for emergency services and police investigations between the A35 Main Road and Bulls Copse Road.

Police have now left the scene and the road has been re-opened.

A full statement from police said: “A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We were called just after 4am today (January 22) to a report of a single vehicle collision on the Marchwood Bypass.

“A car had left the carriageway. Officers attended, and five people were found to have suffered injuries, three believed to be serious.

“Enquiries into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing.”
