Sheffield Wednesday Akin Famewo and Nathaniel Chalobah have setbacks due to injuries.
Neither Nathaniel Chalobah, a summer acquisition, nor Akin Famewo have been included in a Sheffield Wednesday matchday squad this year.

After being released by West Brom, Chalobah became a free agent and joined with Sheffield Wednesday. However, he only made one appearance for the Owls during the preseason.

After the match against Hull, Rohl disclosed to The Star that the two had experienced “small” setbacks in their injuries.

“Akin has a minor injury, but it looks good. He trained individually this morning [Wednesday],” Rohl stated.

“We now have to wait week to week; he’s almost back, and Nathaniel has a little one too.

“We need depth in the squad because it has happened and it gives the younger players an opportunity to perform.”

Why Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer policy may be influenced by Nathaniel Chalobah’s injury
Chalobah has experienced injury problems in the past, missing significant portions of seasons due to them.

Despite being small, his most recent setback could be a sign of things to come for the 29-year-old this season.

It’s also no secret that Rohl wants to add a new central midfield player this month, and there have been a few connections.

According to recent sources, Sheffield Wednesday is interested in signing Malick Yalcouye from Brighton on a loan, and Loreintz Rosier of Fortuna Sittard is also on their radar.

It may be more difficult for Chalobah to crack the starting lineup if he is unable to quickly regain his full level of fitness. In that case, Sheffield Wednesday and Rohl may be forced to go outside the club for a replacement midfielder.
