Man killed in Scarborough motorcycle crash

A van driver has been arrested after a cyclist was killed in a crash on a rural road.

North Yorkshire Police said the collision happened on the B6165 near Harrogate, close to Burnt Yates, at about 18:10 BST on Tuesday.

It was believed a blue Ford Transit van and a pedal bike had been travelling westbound when they collided.

A local man in his 60s was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but was pronounced dead.

Police closed the road for several hours to allow for forensic investigations, and they made an appeal for anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
