Due to a significant multi-vehicle collision, traffic on the A1M in West Yorkshire is stopped in both directions between J41 (M62) and J40 (Ferrybridge).
Drivers are being advised to find alternate routes at this time due to a significant incident on the A1 near Ferrybridge, according to West Yorkshire Police.
A force spokesperson said: “It was reported at 12:36pm that a three vehicle collision had occurred on the A1 southbound near J41.
There have reportedly been three reports of significant injuries. It was also stated that several more people were walking wounded.
Between J41 (M62) and J40 (Ferrybridge), the southbound A1 is now closed and is anticipated to remain closed for some time.
Currently closed is the northbound carriageway as well.
