The Heart of Midlothian team’s difficult season opener against Dundee United did not deter Steven Naismith from maintaining his confidence in his job security.

For the first time in 46 years, the Jam Tarts suffered a 1-0 home loss, giving them the undesirable record of seven games without a victory.

After Ross Graham’s goal in the second half put Dundee United ahead and moved them up to third place, the mood at Tynecastle Park worsened.

This is the first time Hearts have lost all of their opening games since the 1978–79 campaign. The heat is on with Celtic coming up after the international break.

Recently, Naismith signed a new contract and said he would step down if he ever lost faith in his players.

Nevertheless, the team’s current six-game losing streak has left them level with Kilmarnock for last place; it seems Naismith hasn’t fully assembled his ideal group despite amassing a sizable roster.

In regards to his future with the Hearts, Naismith said, “No, because if that time comes, that time will come.”

As I’ve already stated, I will inform the club as soon as I don’t think I can make things better.

If I do reach that stage, it’s not something I’ll hold onto. There has been a fair amount of player churn, as I mentioned. They are a solid team and perform well together, but in the end, we must demonstrate this on the pitch.

“We need to be a more formidable team, possess a more uncompromising attitude, and project confidence in order to fully commit to our goals without worrying about unfavourable outcomes because I feel we’re doing that too much at the moment.”

“I believe it’s a consequence of being in a large club,” Naismith remarked.

Although it’s obviously unpleasant to hear, it’s a necessary aspect of the game.

As previously mentioned, there are players who lack confidence, but this will not go away. That will be the case unless you make a change, provide outcomes, demonstrate the necessary quality and attack, as well as the passion and will to defend.

“I’m pretty sure I can turn it around.” Though I believe there is still much to be done, I also believe we know what it will take.

Last season, there was a time when we had a bad run, and the response to that was really good, so that does show that it’s in the players.”
