John McAtee and George Thomason scored Bolton’s first two goals at Sixfields, respectively, as a result of players cutting in behind the defence and not applying enough pressure to the ball.

Both the application and the effort were present. Our sprint distances were the greatest they’ve been and it was the most we’ve done this season, so we worked really hard, but we just didn’t execute tactically and sometimes technically.
The objectives were too simple. After giving the aims some thought, I’ve noticed some problems. I’m not going to say too much because I don’t want to give away too much information but we were taken apart by a really excellent side.
Because we’re at home and we want to give our supporters something to cheer about, we tried to be aggressive in our shape, but they’ve dragged us open a few times.
