Barnsley boss made a shocking speech about the injury issues

Josh Benson of Barnsley played well yesterday night despite having a sore hamstring, according to a Barnsley Chronicle article.
In the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, Barnsley lost 2-0 on the road against Huddersfield Town, a team in Yorkshire. At John Smith’s Stadium, the home team’s attacking duo of Freddie Ladapo and Danny Ward scored, while Donovan Pines was substituted out for the visitors close to the conclusion.

The 24-year-old Benson was replaced throughout the match. The Tykes will now need to evaluate him.

According to the Barnsley Chronicle, Darrell Clarke stated following the game, “Let’s be realistic.” There’s a lot of work ahead of us if you compare our current squad to Huddersfield’s. Nobody, in my opinion, doesn’t believe that.

“They recently won the Championship, and their squad includes five players who are older than thirty.” The gap is fairly wide. We hope that some of the players on our team can develop into excellent players. But there’s a tonne of work to be done in every aspect on the training field.

latest injury to Barnsley

Benson will need to be checked on by Barnsley in order to ascertain the severity of his problem.

They will be hoping that he recovers since it would be devastating if he was sidelined.

He provides Clarke with greater depth and competitiveness in the middle of the park.

Benson is in the last 12 months of his contract with Oakwell, which runs until June 2025. They need to decide what to do with him in the long run.

He joined the South Yorkshire team in 2021 and has since made 86 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals.

Benson began his career at Arsenal and later relocated to Burnley, which was up north.

In addition to making 12 appearances for the Clarets first team as a young player, he spent a loan period with Grimsby Town, away from Turf Moor, to gain experience.

Following the international break, Barnsley will return to action on the road at Blackpool.

They are now ranked eleventh in the table.
