Hull FC has confirmed the departure of young gun Kye Armstrong, whose contract at the MKM Stadium has expired and no new deal has been reached.
Armstrong, a West Hull junior who turned 20 in September, had a first-team contract with the Black and Whites but had made no senior appearances before leaving.
The loose forward, who had been a regular in FC’s reserves for several seasons, made his senior debut as a loanee for the Midlands Hurricanes this season.
On July 24, he made his League 1 debut with the Hurricanes, coming off the bench in a 36-12 loss against the Keighley Cougars away.
Still a teenager, he came off the bench again the following week in a 32-0 defeat to eventual champions Oldham at Boundary Park, bringing his senior appearance total to two.
The Airlie Birds announced his departure from the MKM Stadium with a brief press release that read: “Hull FC can confirm that young forward Kye Armstrong has left the club.
“The 20-year-old loose-forward, whose first-team contract has expired, is leaving the club to pursue other chances in the game.
“The Hull FC Academy product has played regularly for the club’s reserves in recent years.
“The club wishes Kye the very best for his next chapter in rugby league and beyond.”
