Selles offerred brutal verdict in relegation battle#

Reading scored two second-half goals to beat relegation rivals Port Vale 2-0 at the SCL Stadium.

Check out the boss Ruben Selles’s instant response.

Selles triumphant

“I don’t think the outcome accurately reflected the way we played or performed; we spoke on Saturday. The outcome, in my opinion, today is a reflection of how we played and performed. Since it was Darren’s second game and he wasn’t playing the way he usually does, it took us fifteen to twenty minutes to get everything adjusted. Because we were ready for a different situation, the first fifteen to twenty minutes were more competitive than we had anticipated, but we soon adjusted, and by halftime, we had fully adjusted. We ruled the second half.

Selles on the goal for Lewis Wing

Lewis, along with many others, is an incredible player who is performing admirably for the team. He was in the right place to score. We have practiced those, so we are aware of the danger he poses to the opposition when he has the ball on the edge of the box. We persevered and strengthened. Prior to that one, we had a few opportunities, and it always comes down to breaking the pattern and scoring the goal that allows them to freely express themselves and start the game. We are very dynamic against any team when the game is open.

Selles on half-time change

“Both of them were. Although Michael’s injury is not serious, he had a calf contact that prevented him from playing at full strength. We kept Charlie Savage on the bench because we anticipated needing him in the second half of the match. We chose to do it at halftime because he is a dynamic six who can provide the energy and distribution.

Selles on if the victory over relegation opponents was more significant

“My goal is to defeat any opponent and win three points by going up against them. Three points against Portsmouth would have been just as significant as those three points. I did the same to get my team ready to defeat the opposition. I am aware that this will result in one less victory or point, which is a good thing, but we must put our attention on how we perform. I believe we deserved more from the Portsmouth game, and we deserved the three points today against Fleetwood. It was the final play that decided the outcome. More than the table, relegation, or the teams nearby, that is what is on my mind. It concerns how From this day to the next, we improve.

Selles on importance of second goal

“You sense the meaning of the game inside of you already. Although the slower start didn’t help, the game opens up as soon as you get the first one, and they will need to put in more effort if they want to win today. My players have a lot of energy and are very dangerous when teams open up. The objective is a flawless illustration of their traits, their unity, and their approach to work. Harvey Knibbs’s selfless effort to score the goals reflects the players’ desire to perform well for the team and the dressing room. They demonstrated that they are developing and have no trouble controlling the game.”
