The well-known shopping centre was home to a fast food restaurant branch that was operational years ago.
The most recent McDonald’s location scheduled to open in the Medway towns has now been given an opening date. Plans submitted to Medway Council towards the end of the previous year verified the fast food chain’s return to Gillingham’s Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre.
McDonald’s had previously run a stand-alone location outside the main mall, but it closed down afterwards, allegedly for lack of business. It has now been confirmed by the Hempstead Valley team that the new eatery will open on March 13th, Wednesday.
Since McDonald’s at Hempstead Valley closed its doors, the mall has opened The Venue, a brand-new outdoor dining establishment. This is where the new branch will open, occupying the space where Bird used to reside next to Frankie and Benny’s.
Specialising in fried chicken and waffles, the eatery had a brief existence as it closed in December 2022, barely a year after it opened. At The Venue, McDonald’s will be located alongside restaurants like Bella Italia, Nando’s, Costa Coffee, and Subway.
The seventh branch of the chain to open in the Medway towns will be this one. There are currently numerous McDonald’s locations in Chatham, Gillingham, and Strood.
