There are no justifications from Stephen Curry for his recent shooting struggles.
On Sunday, the Golden State Warriors were defeated 119-103 by the Denver Nuggets. Golden State’s recent game was agonising for them because of the way they constructed and blew a 16-point lead in the second quarter. Stephen Curry and company received their seventh consecutive defeat at the hands of the Nuggets as the final buzzer sounded.
Kerr stated, “Steph has looked tired to me (in) the last couple of games,” as Anthony Slater of the Athletic reported. “The All-Star Game events, with three games in four nights and little respite…He appears a little worn out, but this is all normal for the season.
Curry scored 20 points in the game on Sunday, shooting 6-0f-19 (31.6%) from the field. His three-point percentage was just 1 out of 10 and he had a final plus/minus rating of -22. The two-time MVP has also been shooting quietly lately. Curry’s field goal percentage was less than 36% in three of the last four games for the Warriors.
The four-time champion isn’t backing down, though. Upon his turn to address the media, Curry denied any notion of being tired.
Curry said, “No,” when asked if he was tired. That explains the moniker “averages.” It has its highs and lows for you. When you fall short of the standard you set, questions like “Are your legs tired?” come up. No, you just keep shooting even though you miss shots. It comes with the territory when you play every game and are always available.
And keep shooting he will. Stephen Curry looks to bounce back when the Warriors face the Washington Wizards on Tuesday.
