A new study delves into Kalvin Phillips’ time at Manchester City, revealing what the England international thinks of his move to the Etihad Stadium.
The latest update comes as Phillips nears a move to the London Stadium and a reunion with West Ham United manager David Moyes, who is said to be a long-time fan of the midfielder’s ability.
Moyes believes Phillips can be an important part of the West Ham squad this season and beyond, so the Hammers have agreed to fund his entire salary and include a buy-option for the summer window.
Despite his Manchester City career coming to an end after a mainly terrible era in terms of game time and opportunities, a new article has revealed what the player truly thinks of his move from Leeds United for the silverware and success of the Etihad Stadium.
According to a fresh report from Jack Gaughan for MailSport, “Kalvin (Phillips) doesn’t have any regrets about the move (to Manchester City).”
18 months after joining the Premier League champions from Leeds United for £42 million, MailSport reports that Phillips believes he will leave Manchester City a greater player than when he arrived in the summer of 2022.
However, despite Phillips being a hugely popular member of the City dressing room largely due to his infectious personality, the same report also reveals an admission that the player has ‘not seemed himself recently as it became clear that his future would lie elsewhere’.
Kalvin Phillips has already had chance to say his farewells and thank yous to his City teammates and club staff this week, during an eight-hour flight from Abu Dhabi back to Manchester following a warm-weather training camp in the middle-east.
The 28-year-old did however get the opportunity to score a goal in a Manchester City shirt in December, after striking home a confident penalty in the European champions’ victory over Red Star Belgrade in Serbia on matchday six of the Champions League group stage.
City might look to the market in the summer to replace Phillips, with a number of options on the table, including Bayern Munich and Germany international Joshua Kimmich, whom Pep Guardiola knows well from his time in Bavaria.
