The adaptable defender received some playing time from Mansfield Town as he attempts to come back up to speed.
Due to an ACL injury, Hewitt, 29, hasn’t played for the League Two table-toppers this season.
He participated for forty-five minutes in the Stags’ 2-0 loss against the Terriers, according to their statement. James Gale, a forward, played for an hour.
Mansfield Town injury boost
Mansfield’s chances of winning promotion to League One will be greatly enhanced by having Hewitt back for the last stretch of the season.
To make sure he returns as painlessly as possible, they will take their time and not want to push him back in too quickly.
The Welshman can play a variety of roles in midfield or defence and is under contract at Field Mill until the summer of 2025. He is a valuable player to have in and around the squad.
After joining Mansfield in 2021, Hewitt has made 91 appearances across all competitions and contributed two goals.
He played for teams including Macclesfield Town, Ipswich Town, Notts County, and Grimsby Town before joining Nigel Clough’s squad.
Now that he’s settled in Nottinghamshire, the Stags have supported him through his medical issues.
This Saturday, Clough’s team will play their first game back at home against Swindon Town. They will try to recover after losing to MK Dons 2-1 at home their previous game.
Mansfield is still at the top, although Wrexham and Stockport County are gaining ground on them.
