In their last ten games, Notts County has gained five points out of a possible thirty.

Notts County is the worst-performing team in League Two going into their rematch with Accrington Stanley this coming weekend, but the players and head coach are still optimistic.

Notts have dropped like a leaf in the standings after accumulating the fewest points in the division over the past ten games—five out of a possible thirty. With five straight losses heading into Saturday’s game, fan confidence in the team is at an all-time low, and Stuart Maynard needs to try to find a way to turn things around.

He still has a lot to prove as an inexperienced head coach at this level, and things have definitely not been easy for him thus far, but he has, at least outwardly, consistently shown faith in his players.

“If you look at the last few games objectively, I believe it shows that we’re not far from being the winning team again, and the first group of teams we played when we arrived were all at the top of the table,” he remarked.

We think our playing is not that different from that of those teams, but as a management team, it is our responsibility to ensure that the guys continue to have faith in our abilities, and I think we have that in our group.

The guys are fully committed to our efforts, and we can’t wait to try and make amends on Saturday by putting on a strong show and, most importantly, earning some points.

“I think we’ve had a lot of luck in games when it comes to big moments not going our way, like referee calls, not taking chances, or individual mistakes that cost us goals.”

Results contradict what is being said in public, so it’s still unclear if the players agree with everything Maynard and his coaching staff are attempting to accomplish. However, a couple of wins could cause the consensus to shift.

The Magpies will want to finish strong to regain some positive momentum, as custodian Sam Slocombe explains, even though it seems highly unlikely at this point that the team will be fighting for anything more than pride for the remainder of this season.

Slocombe continued, “I believe there have been very small margins of difference in multiple areas.” “We still had a few difficult games in the first half of the season, but we were probably marginally in the positive with the small margins, whereas we are now marginally in the negative.

The league’s overall tightness demonstrates how swiftly things can turn around. It’s discouraging and difficult to accept, serving as a harsh reminder of how this league can be, so we need to make sure we can bounce back.

“We have kept up our regular work while making minor adjustments. We have witnessed what Notts County is capable of over the last 18 months, so we cannot abandon what it is meant to be or what we have established in terms of how we are expected to play football.
