After a woman in Leeds was attacked with a shattered bottle, a man has been taken into custody on suspicion of trying to kill her.
In what police consider to be an unprovoked attack, the woman was slashed in the head and neck at a bus stop on Otley Road around 21:00 GMT on Sunday.
According to authorities, the 30-year-old victim underwent medical attention following the extremely traumatic incident.
A 32-year-old male was apprehended by local security personnel and subsequently placed under arrest by law enforcement.
From our enquiries so far, this appears to be an unprovoked assault by a man who was not known to the victim,” Det Insp. Richard James stated.
In response to this event, security personnel moved swiftly, apprehending a male and protecting the victim until police arrived.
I want to tell you that we have a man in jail and a comprehensive investigation is underway. I recognise the concern that this incident may generate in the wider community, especially for other women.
