Rochdale’s winning streak of four games in the National League was extended to three as they defeated Eastleigh

Kairo Mitchell gave Dale the lead in the 28th minute, but Paul McCallum’s header soon tied the score for the Spitfires.

But shortly before halftime, Jimmy Keohane’s cross at the far post put the visitors ahead once more.

After being played in by Cian Hayes, Mitchell scored his second goal of the game, followed by Devante Rodney’s third goal for Dale.

After the game, Eastleigh manager Kelvin Davis made the following statement: “It was evident early on that we hadn’t played in a while.

“We didn’t get enough of the ball, let them get into their rhythm despite knowing what to expect from them.

“They are a high-possession team and we were hoping to be able to counteract that better than we did but the goals we conceded were disappointing.”

He added: “I said to the lads in the dressing room that it is not a performance we want to be associated with again so it is a difficult day.

“We didn’t seem to be able to string together four or five passes until about fifteen minutes into the game.

“For whatever reason, the performance wasn’t what we wanted.”
