ROCHDALE extended their unbeaten run to three National League games as they ran out 4-1 winners at Eastleigh
Kairo Mitchell gave Dale the lead in the 28th minute, but Paul McCallum’s header soon tied the score for the Spitfires.
But shortly before halftime, Jimmy Keohane’s cross at the far post put the visitors ahead once more.
After being played in by Cian Hayes, Mitchell scored his second goal of the game, followed by Devante Rodney’s third goal for Dale.
After the game, Eastleigh manager Kelvin Davis made the following statement: “It was evident early on that we hadn’t played in a while.
Even though we knew what to expect from them, we didn’t acquire enough ball time and instead allowed them to settle into a groove.
“They are a high-possession team and we were hoping to be able to counteract that better than we did but the goals we conceded were disappointing.”
“I told the guys in the dressing room that it’s a tough day because this isn’t a performance we want to be associated with again,” he continued.
Once the game gets started, I don’t remember us stringing four or five passes together until 15 minutes in.
“For whatever reason, the performance wasn’t what we wanted.”
