Don Robertson, the whistler, declared Dundee’s soggy Dens Park field unusable just before the international break, which infuriated the Gers.

Despite Rangers still having a game in hand, Parkhead’s victory over St Johnstone moved them to the top of the Scottish Premiership by a single point.

The match will now take place on Wednesday, April 10 at 8 p.m., according to the SPFL. Rangers now have a full week to get ready for the Old Firm match on April 7.

Rangers to play Dundee after Celtic clash

In Rangers circles, the news will be received differently because the club is still recovering from a slew of injuries.

Rangers may have four or five players back fit when the Scottish Premiership returns after they were sidelined during the international break.

Although there is undoubtedly an advantage to the match being rescheduled, Philippe Clement’s team will need to overcome the mental obstacle of losing first place going into this pivotal stretch of games.
Talk and speculation about the call-off is almost pointless, at least in terms of the actual game, given Rangers already know when they will play Dundee at Dens Park.

Hopefully, the incompetent John Nelms and his associates will have everything sorted out by the time we return to the City of Discovery.

SPFL rivals to ensure nervy Scottish Premiership finish

Of course, there is the small matter of a full Scottish Premiership card before the hotly anticipated April Old Firm clash and Rangers & Celtic fans might want to take note.

Rangers are at home to Hibs on the Saturday – and will themselves go top of the division with a victory – whilst Celtic face a trip to bottom of the table Livingston a day later.

When it comes to this championship match, you should write off the other Scottish Premiership teams at your own risk because both matches have the potential to be explosive in the past.

Rangers may be ahead, but there will be many twists and turns, as seen by their home loss to Motherwell and their subsequent away loss to Celtic at Hearts.
