Morecambe boss Ged Brannan admits the Easter period is vital to his side’s League Two play-off hopes.

The Shrimps have now lost four straight games after losing to Gillingham at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium last Saturday.

The Morecambe players are currently five points outside of the top seven heading into the final month of the season, after previously finishing outside the play-off spots on goal differential.

Seeking to regain their promotion hopes, they go to Accrington Stanley on Good Friday and then host Barrow AFC on Easter Monday.
Brannan continues to support his team’s efforts to persevere and return to winning ways with seven games remaining in the regular season.

“I know we lost on Saturday, but we told the boys that if they work that hard and put in performances like that, we won’t be far off,” the speaker stated.

We make a strong team. We can qualify for the playoffs if we win seven straight games.

“We won’t give up until the situation is resolved. On Saturday, we didn’t receive the green light once more, but I have no doubt things will change.

“We are planning to have a really big Easter. We will enter both games with confidence and take the opposition by storm. These are two fantastic games, derbies that should draw sizable crowds.

“I think the lads have been outstanding for me since I have been here, and we will be giving it our all this weekend, aside from the Salford game (3-1 defeat).”

In addition to promising his players not to give up on their play-off dream, Brannan gave keeper Archie Mair a vote of confidence.

The loanee from Norwich City struggled against Gillingham, misjudging Tim Dieng’s shot for their second equaliser before Connor Mahoney’s late winner was the result of his mistake.

Of the 23-year-old, who is making his League Two debut, Brannan said, “He’s been brilliant for us since he’s come.”

“Throughout the season, every member of the team has made blunders.

“Everyone blames the goalie when he makes a mistake, but I don’t think that way; as a team, we win and lose together.
