The Millers team, which includes the loanee from Rotherham United, is headed for relegation following a heartbreaking 2023–24 campaign; mathematical confirmation is expected soon.

In January, Rinomhota joined on loan from Cardiff, a Championship opponent. In actuality, though, the die was already in Rotherham’s favour.

The midfielder’s future remains up in the air. But he is grateful for small mercies.

He was a member of Reading’s previous team for eight years before departing in 2022, during which time there was a great deal of conflict off the pitch.

The club is in exclusive talks with a buyer after owner Dai Yongee committed to a letter of intent, which is very welcome good news this week.

Rinomhota, who was born in Leeds, stated: “I spent many years there and enjoyed my time in Reading.

“Everyone who has been there knows how big of a club – and family club – it is. It is really disheartening to see what is happening due to the owner.

“No-one at the club is at fault apart from the people at the top.

“You see the stuff happening now with trying to sell the training ground and it’s an absolute mess.

“It’s really sad to see and I hope they can come out of it as I’ve got a lot of love for the club.

“There are still guys I know there, even though a few players left during the season I played (end of 2021–2022).”

Rimonhota has a special place in his heart for the suffering of the unsung heroes who keep clubs going strong across the nation.

“From what I heard, a few people have been laid off,” he continued. The kitchen staff, many of whom I know personally, were excellent folks who took great care of me.

“They were pleasant and brought a buzz to the place every day when they visited.

“It’s sad to see as they don’t deserve that and they have done nothing wrong and their job to their capabilities. It’s no fault of their own and very unfortunate.

“It puts it in perspective. I am happy to be playing football and taking every game as it comes.”
