The RSPCA has now launched an appeal to find out what happened the moggies

After finding themselves abandoned in a cardboard box that had been taped up by some dumpsters, three cats were saved. March 14, when a bystander in Skinner Street, Gillingham, happened upon the sealed box that was intended to store crisp packets, they discovered the three empty food bowls and the “distressed” cats within.

The three flea-infested cats were soon picked up by the RSPCA and brought to their Isle of Thanet branch for additional care. The public is being asked for assistance by the animal protection charity as an investigation into the animals’ abandonment has been opened.

The kitties were retrieved by RSPCA inspector Kirsten Ormerod, who stated: “These three cats were sadly abandoned in a cardboard box that had been taped up and dumped by some bins.” They were terrified, disturbed, and extremely tense. They were also straining from large flea burdens and scabs.

“Thank God, I was able to place them in the care of a nearby branch, where they are currently receiving the necessary attention and affection.” The staff has dubbed the three-year-old cats—two male and one female—Cliff, Frank, and Vera—after they were not microchipped.

They are all reportedly doing well under RSPCA care, with Frank described as “very confident”, while the females remain a little nervous but are “gaining confidence every day.” Kirsten added: “We’re now appealing for help and asking the public to please contact us on 0300 123 8018 quoting 1236114 if they have any information about this.

“We understand that the cost of living crisis has had an impact on people’s finances and some people may be struggling to care for their pets. Reports about animals being abandoned and dumped are rising, and we’re seeing more animals coming into our care. But in the tough financial climate, we’re doing everything we can to keep pets in loving homes, and support owners.
