Two young Sheffield Wednesday players are rumoured to be among the players set to depart the team this summer.
Luke Cook and Adam Alimi-Adetoro both joined the Owls before the beginning of the 2022–2023 season, bringing strength to the young ranks after making an impression during their trials at Middlewood Road in the preceding weeks.

But now that Cook (21) and Alimi-Adetoro (22) are two of the more experienced players in the current U21 class, The Star is informed that both are expected to go after their present contracts expire in pursuit of a new challenge overseas.

Like teammate Jay Glover, the two signed two-year contracts with the option to extend when they arrived in 2022, but it’s understood that there are presently no plans to exercise them.
Both Cook and Alimi-Adetoro have played just once for the Owls at the senior level, both under Darren Moore in cup matches the previous season. They have also been regulars in the U21s in 2023–2024, which has been an excellent campaign for Andy Holdsworth’s team thus far.

In front of another summer of transition at Hillsborough, Wednesday will be assessing the state of the young ranks. Decisions about extensions and the provision of professional deals to U21 and U18 players will be made soon.

There are six games left for the U21s this season, beginning on Tuesday against Wigan Athletic. As the campaign draws to an end, it’s possible that more players from the U18s will be promoted and start to play.
