Hull City had a disastrous performance on Good Friday, losing 2-0 to struggling Stoke City in front of a sold-out MKM Stadium crowd.

That result, combined with wins for Norwich, Coventry, and Preston, has seen the Tigers fall farther away from the play-offs, with the margin now standing at six points, and their goal difference is vastly inferior to the in-form Canaries.

City do, however, have a game in hand on the Carrow Road outfit, but it is against Coventry, who are in excellent form and have an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to later this month.

With only eight games remaining, Liam Rosenior’s side knows that any more performances like theirs against Stoke will end their season, but they play Leeds United at Elland Road on Monday hoping for a response, and the head coach is keen to see it happen.

“What I’d say about this group is that every time questions have been asked, every time it feels like we’re in a major setback, they come out swinging,” Rosenior told Hull Live on the eve of the trip to Elland Road. “They’ve done that for me in my first 18 months here, so what a game to represent what we’re about as characters and as individuals.

I’m looking forward to the test because it’s going to be a big one away to Leeds.

We still have the game, so we need to focus. We must stay focused and not waste time. It’s far from over. Now is the time for us to refocus, control each moment, and ensure that we’re in the race moving into the final few games.
