The stabbing, which was initially reported as being in Kemspton, happened in Bedford near Bedford Road between Addison Howard Park and the railway bridge at around 5pm yesterday (Saturday).
One of the males is described as being in his mid-20s, white, six feet tall, and wearing a grey tracksuit top and trousers. He is also said to be carrying a knife.
Following the attack, there was a “large” police presence on the location as investigations into the stabbing were being conducted, and a police cordon was established.
“We think this was a targeted attack, but a lot of people saw it, so it makes sense that the neighbourhood was alarmed.
“I want to reassure everyone that we are looking into the events that led to a guy suffering catastrophic injuries as much as we can.
We are grateful to those who have already contacted us with information. However, we are appealing for anyone else who witnessed the attack or any suspicious circumstances in the area to please get in contact.
“Our officers are conducting high visibility patrols in the area to help reassure residents and they can also be approached with any information, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant.”
