Sheffield Wednesday are not expected to hand attacker Luke Cook a contract extension, as detailed in a report by The Star.
Sheffield Wednesday signed the forward back in 2022 and his deal expires at the end of this season.
Cook, 21, had a successful trial period before being signed by the Championship team.
But according to The Star’s most recent report on his circumstances at Hillsborough, he should be moving on this summer. Adam Alimi-Adetoro, the defender, is also expected to go on a free transfer.
Sheffield Wednesday attacker expected to leave
Cook hasn’t been able to establish himself in Sheffield Wednesday’s starting lineup, therefore it makes sense for everyone for him to go.
After being signed by the Owls, he played in the non-league for Enfield Town and Merstham, then moved up north to South Yorkshire.
A few years ago, Cook played in the League Cup against Sunderland for his present club for the first and only time as a senior.
Since then, he has played for their Under-21 team, but it looks like his time with the lower league team is almost up.
Regardless of the league they play in, Sheffield Wednesday is rumoured to have an option to retain him for an additional 12 months, but it is unlikely that they will exercise that right.
In an attempt to stave off an instant return to League One, Danny Rohl’s team, along with Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United, remain in the relegation zone.
They are currently without a win in their past three games after drawing 1-1 with Swansea City at home last time out.
In an attempt to get back to winning ways, the Owls will play again this afternoon when they travel to Riverside Stadium to play Middlesbrough.
