Police are looking into claims of thefts from cars at the burned-out airport parking lot in Luton.
On October 10, while over 1,300 cars were parked in Terminal Car Park 2, the fire started and spread quickly.
Since then, over 70% of the cars have been taken out of the parking lot, which is being dismantled to make room for a replacement, according to the airport.
The airport was collaborating, according to Bedfordshire Police.
A spokesperson for the police said: “We have been made aware of items being allegedly removed from the now disused multi-storey car park at London Luton Airport which was affected by a fire in October last year.”
Any claims of illegal behaviour are taken extremely seriously, according to an airport official, and should be looked upon by the police.
It was revealed last month that an electrical malfunction or a component breakdown in a moving diesel vehicle was most likely the cause of the incident.
According to the fire department, at its peak, over 100 firefighters battled the fire, which caused aeroplanes to be grounded till the next day.
In September, the fire service is anticipated to provide a detailed report.
Following the fire, a man who had been detained by the police was freed without being charged.
