According to reports, Scotland has received a significant boost in advance of the European Championships this summer.

Billy Gilmour raised eyebrows yesterday when he posted a video of himself on social media while wearing a leg brace and watching his Brighton colleagues play Liverpool at home.

The 22-year-old midfielder seemed to hurt himself during last Tuesday’s friendly loss to Northern Ireland following a forceful tackle on Brodie Spencer.

The Daily Record claims the former Chelsea player is still on pace to compete for the national team at the event, despite worries over his health going into the last stretch of the season before Euro 2024.

He is expected to miss four weeks of activity, but by the end of the month, he should be back playing Premier League football.

It’s thought that Gilmour and Brighton want to make his comeback for the April 25 matchup against Manchester City. He will therefore be unable to attend Burnley, Brentford, and Arsenal games.

If all goes to schedule, Gilmpur will have five club matches to finish off the campaign, before joining up with Steve Clarke’s preliminary Euros squad for friendlies at the start of June against Gibraltar and Finland.

It’s then all eyes on Germany when the Scots take on the host nation in the opening game on June 14.

Gilmour has been an integral part of Brighton’s success this term making 36 appearances in all competitions.

Dermot Gallagher, a former Premier League referee, has supported both calling Rangers’ goal out and awarding them a penalty against Hibs.

The former whistler said he saw the initial foul on John Souttar but acknowledged it was “absolutely right” to give a spot-kick.

After the clash in the box at Ibrox, Gallagher said, it was also the proper move to give Nectar Triantis a yellow card.
