The massive boards have been restricted to operating during a 12-hour window.

On one of Kilmarnock’s busiest highways, plans to install two enormous digital advertising billboards have been authorised.

To provide room for the new brilliant screens, two old-fashioned paper advertising boards at the intersection of Dean Road and Beansburn will be demolished.

The screens will be around the same size as the current advertising boards, with a base height of two metres and dimensions of six metres by three metres. There will be 96mm thick screens.

The new signage, according to East Ayrshire Council planners, is “appropriate size, scale, design and siting so as not to adversely impact upon visual amenity, upon road traffic or pedestrian safety.”

Additionally, Ayrshire Roads Alliance did not protest to the plans, and there were no concerns from

The applicant, Hesham El-Shafei, of the company Hesham El-Shafei Ltd., has been subject to conditions.

The screen’s illumination should not be greater than 600 candelas (or 600 candles) per square metre during the day and no more than 300 candelas at night.

Additionally, the digital board can only change at a minimum of once every 30 seconds. Animation, video, and full motion images are not permitted on the screens.

Additionally, the screen’s operation will be restricted to the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Planners issued the conditions in relation to residential amenity and road safety.
