Portsmouth rivals launch investigation over disturbing incident.

Fratton Park will reopen on Saturday as Pompey prepare to face Shrewsbury Town in the hopes of taking another key step towards the Championship next season.

The Blues just need seven points to secure their status in the second division, but consecutive victories over the Shrews and third-placed Bolton the following weekend will also suffice.

Here are the most recent League One headlines before of their match against Paul Hurst’s side.

Carlisle United manager Paul Simpson was left ‘disappointed’ when his players were sighted on a night out before their game against Lincoln on Monday.
As a result, the Cumbrians have begun an internal investigation following accusations of some first-team players being involved in a ‘incident’ late Saturday night.

Carlisle are currently at the bottom of League One and very certainly relegated. They suffered a 3-1 loss at home against the Imps on Monday.
Speaking before Saturday’s trip to Northampton. Simpson informed newsandstar.co.uk that inquiries are being conducted into the matter. We’re dealing with it internally, and it’ll be apparent that we’ll deal with it as forcefully as possible.

‘Everyone signs a code of conduct at the outset of the season, and the rules state that there is no drinking 72 hours before a game. That’s really evident. Everyone knows and understands the rules. If those rules are broken, they will be dealt with.

EFL boss receives unexpected manager of the year ‘nomination’

Sky Sports analyst Don Goodman says Reading manager Ruben Selles has not received enough credit for his work at the Select Car Leasing Stadium this season.

The Royals are 18th in League One, barely five points above the relegation zone. However, this comes after a six-point deduction for the owner’s refusal to pay their payments.

Pompey manager John Mousinho, Stevenage’s Steve Evans, and Peterborough’s Darren Ferguson were all shortlisted for the League One manager of the season award this week. However, former Wolves forward Goodman believes the absence of former Saints manager Selles was a huge mistake. He also believes Reading has a god guy in charge if a reported takeover of the club occurs.

Speaking with Cypto Casino LTD, Goodman stated: “Ruben Selles is in the running for manager of the season.” I can’t image dealing with what he’s been through. Coping with all the garbage and difficulties isn’t too different from what Wayne Rooney went through at Derby. A nutjob of a club.

‘He’s clearly gained kudos, and I’m hoping that this takeover proposal brings stability to the club. I enjoy football stories in which teams face adversity and emerge victorious. I hope the takeover helps to stabilise Reading and allows Ruben Selles to demonstrate his actual potential, whatever it is.

‘Southampton was a bit much, too soon. His Reading team is incredibly young, and to keep them going in such conditions is extraordinary. He would be one of my picks for manager of the year.
