The remains have yet to be identified and the area has been closed off to the public
After human remains were discovered at a nature reserve wrapped in plastic, a thorough investigation was started. The public called Greater Manchester Police (GMP) after discovering a “unknown item wrapped in plastic” near Kersal Dale in Salford.
According to GMP, pathologists and detectives examined the area and determined that the material was, in fact, human remains. The unidentified remains were discovered on Thursday at approximately 5:50 p.m. in a remote forest region where a large police scene had been set up, according to the force.
A murder inquiry was started by the police after they stated that it was verified that the victim “would not be possible for the victim to have survived”. There have been no takedowns. According to its website, the mostly wooded nature reserve is located north of Manchester’s downtown and covers an area of about 32 hectares in the countryside.
“I want to assure the local community that although this is a disturbing and unsettling find, we have a large visible presence in the area to complete inquiries, provide reassurance, and to listen to any concerns,” stated Detective Superintendent Lewis Hughes of the GMP’s Serious Crime Division. I urge anyone with pertinent information to get in touch with these police.
“A sizable scene has been set up, and it is probably going to stay this way for a while as we try to figure out exactly what happened. The public is not permitted in this location.
“The victim’s identity is still unknown, but we are certain that a family who has lost a loved one will be hiding behind this discovery, and we want to make sure they get the care they need as soon as possible. The key to understanding what transpired may lie with anyone who believes they may have seen something odd in the Kersal Dale area during the past few days. I would ask that anyone, regardless of size, who has any information that would be pertinent to our inquiries come forward.”
